Erosion Protection – Coastal, Rivers, Lakes & Ponds

Revegetation
Revegetation requires retention of the nourishing earth either by, geocontainers or on the surface by anti-runoff canvases, and often using the two combined.

Geocontainer structure for retention, filtration, drainage and revegetation: teracro®

Natural canvases for revegetation: teranat®

Under rockfills

Heavy mechanical loading on the slope using large blocks and heavy hydraulic loading due to the hydrodynamic impact of the waves creating a variable filtration rate led téragéos to design the terabloc® F-VNW product range.

Two-layer needle-punched nonwoven for filtration and puncture resistance: terabloc® F-VNW.

Wake and wave protection

Wave action or excessive erosion requires imperceptible embankment protection, by small blocks held within a geocellular structure.

Small 100-250 blocks in geocontainer structure for filtration, drainage and retention: teracro®

Typical applications

  • Erosion protection
  • Seawall construction
  • Dune stabilisation
  • Beach nourishment
  • Rip-rap structures

Benefits

  • The amount of material sinking into the coastal sand is minimised, with the textile preventing drainage stone being lost into the soft subsoils
  • Differential settlement is reduced, helping with long-term alignment of revetments or breakwaters

Posts and planking technique

The posts and planking technique consists of posts, often wooden, planted in the embankment, on top of which is a guard rail and over which an HF or terastop® anti-rodent monofilament geotextile is stretched, to act as a retaining structure and filter on the edge of the embankment.

This technique provides embankments stabilised against wave pressure and against erosion due to human presence.

It allows revegetation of the embankments.
