nonwoven bontec® NW optim

Introducing bontec® NW optim, a premium line of needle-punched and thermally bonded geotextiles, designed to elevate performance in filtration and separation applications. bontec® NW optim excels in site access roads, hard standings, road and railways, drainage blankets, and car parks, delivering superior filtration and separation capabilities.

These nonwoven geotextiles create a natural soil filter in adjacent soil, ensuring enduring filtration stability. In railtrack maintenance, bontec® NW optim mitigates potential track failure caused by pumping, preventing the upward movement of fine particles into the ballast.

Technical specifications for bontec® NW optim include 100% virgin polypropylene composition, needle-punched and thermally bonded nonwoven staple fiber geotextiles. Noteworthy attributes encompass CBR puncture strengths ranging from 0.85 to 7.5 kN, uniform tensile strengths up to 45 kN per meter in all directions, and customisable widths with standard lengths of 100 metres.

The product’s consistent aperture sizes accommodate various soils, coupled with excellent mechanical robustness and hydraulic properties. Notably, bontec® NW optim contributes to a substantial reduction in carbon footprint and costs compared to traditional methods. Elevate your groundwork construction with bontec® NW optim, the epitome of quality, performance, and environmental responsibility.

bontec® NW optim is used in all structures where separation of soil layers and filtration is required. The bontec® NW optim is a range of staple fibre, needle punched and thermally bonded non-woven geotextiles designed specifically to offer optimum performance per unit weight.

Asqual certified geotextiles:

  • NW 5, NW 6, NW 8, NW 12, NW 16, NW 20, NW 25
  • PROTEC 300, PROTEC 400, PROTEC 500, PROTEC 600, PROTEC 800, PROTEC 1000, SNW 50

Terrex NW Geotextile for filtration and separation functions

bontec® NW optim Geotextile has high performance staple-fibres, mechanically bonded offering excellent performance against weight characteristics.

Benefits

  • optimal performance per unit weight
  • thermal and mechanical bonding process ensuring superior performance at reduced weight
  • ability to facilitate water flow significantly greater than design requirements.
  • bontec NW optim delivers optimum efficiency in a separator and bearing capacity applications
  • due to its thermally bonded, needle-punched production process, its pore structure is stable for controlled filtration
  • bontec NW optim provides 40% to 50% elongation at break and provides 30% to 50% extra reinforcement between standard product
  • due to the high coefficient of friction, bontec NW optim is more effective for providing separation and reinforcement between soil layers
  • compact for easy handling and does not absorb water
  • broad range from 80 to 800 g/m2

Description

The bontec® NW optim is a 100% virgin polypropylene needle-punched nonwoven geotextile. The fibres are thermally bonded after needle punching so as to improve their grip within the soil, increase load-bearing capacity and stabilise its pore structure for controlled filtration. The elongation at break ranges between 40% and 50%.

Installation tips

  • plan the layout to limit cutting
  • prepare a flat, graded, compacted base with no projecting elements
  • unroll the product on the ground with a pole passed through the reel, or by hand, or suspend it from a lifting beam
  • the overlap depends on the supporting soil; on a stable, graded soil 30cm, on a soft soil 60cm to 1m
  • the textile can be stitched together of “welded” with a hot air / hot gas gun

The resulting mechanical robustness and excellent hydraulic properties make bontec® NW geotextiles an ideal choice for filtration and separation applications, including as a general purpose separator under site access roads and hard-standing areas, as a separation and strengthening layer under new roads and as a filter medium in the construction of French drains or granular drainage blankets.

bontec® NW geotextiles offer many advantages; including uniform tensile strength in all planes through the geotextile fabric, a wide range of CBR puncture strengths, excellent water flows normal to the plane, consistent pore opening sizes for use with a wide range of soil types and hydraulic properties suited to the demands of everyday filter separators.

The use of Teragéos bontec® NW geotextile may offer cost savings on the project by helping reduce the requirement for fill materials and by minimising future maintenance.

Packaging

bontec NW optim is available in rolls 5.25m wide x 100m or 2.62m x 100m. Other sizes available on request.
